On Saturday afternoon, the firefighters and families met to enjoy some time together. All who attended were treated to a great Southern Barbeque prepared by Miz Hattie's BBQ. Good weather, great company and the best BBQ in the Hudson Valley made it a memorable day.

Today at the 2009 Sullivan County Fireman's Parade, Station 34 won 1st Place Best Appearing Dress Uniform Small Company 19 and Under. The Officers would like to congratulate all the firefighters who prepared the trucks, uniforms and marched today.

25 local teens attended the Auxiliary's 2nd annual Teen Night. With the music for the event being supplied by 92.7 WRRV, the teens played whiffle ball, volleyball and a water balloon toss. The auxiliary provided food and drinks for the event.

While at the Sullivan County FTC during the FFI class we met an old friend. Retired 34-61 now serving the Swan Lake Fire Company was there for FAST Team coverage during a Live Burn Exercise. The Firefighters from Swan Lake said the truck has worked out perfectly for them.

July 4th was a day for the Firefighters and their families to get together and celebrate our Country's Birthday. Having one of the best weather days in a month, we took advantage of the nice weather with a shrimp, clam, hamburger and hot dog BBQ.
Firefighter James Moore was assigned to Class Captain in the FFI class at the Sullivan County FTC. James scored well on his mid-term and was given the responsibility of Class Captain. Everyone at Station 34 would like to congratulate James on his new position.

Today Station 34 Firefighters paid their last respects to Past Chief Robert Vollano. Past Chief Vollano was given a full Firematic Funeral today in the Village of Wurtsboro. Bob was very active with the Summitville Fire Company and also served on County Fire Committees.

Tonight Kris Bloom received his new helmet as he turned 18 today. Kris was presented his new helmet by his Father and Assistant Chief Warren Bloom and his Sister Firefighter/EMT Emily Mesnick. Kris is currently attending FF1 at the Sullivan County FTC.
Tonight Cassie Richards officially became a Junior Firefighter with Station 34. Cassie was issued her gear and hook on the wall by Lieutenant Lattimer. All the Officers and Members would like to welcome Cassie into the family.

Station 34 acquired a support vehicle from Rockland Paramedic Services based out of Nanuet in Rockland County, New York. The 2004 Chevy Suburban will be used as a support vehicle. Scotty Signs in Bloomingburg did another fine job lettering the truck.
10 members attended a Water Rescue Awareness class last night at the Sparrowbush Fire Station. The class was well attended by over 70 firefighters that came from all across the area. The Auxiliary will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt for Children 10 and under on April 11th. The Hunt will begin at Noon at the Fire Station. There will be games and prizes. The Auxiliary will also have food for sale.

Santa arrived at Station 34 this afternoon. Giving his Reindeer some much needed rest, 34-1 picked up Santa with 34-51. With a very busy last few days before his big night, Santa took time to visit the Children's Christmas Party.

The last of the equipment purchased with 2008 Grants arrived today. Through a NYS DEC Grant, 250 feet of 1.75" attack line arrived and was placed on 34-51. Also bought on the DEC grant were 2 forestry nozzles, 2 portable in-line Class A foam proportioners and 2 cases of foam sticks.

34-31 assisted the Bloomingburg Fire Company at a Live Burn Drill. 34-31 was used in the Tanker shuttle portion of the drill. Before the drill was under way, the crew from 34-31 had to respond back to the District for a reported structure fire.

34-31 along with 34-1 and 34-5 attended a Live Burn Drill in Huguenot at 08:30hrs. 34-31 shuttled 4 loads of water during the drill. Along with Station 34, Sparrow Bush, Port Jervis and Otisville attended the drill.

The Officers, Firefighters and Auxiliary Members along with their families enjoyed an afternoon BBQ that featured a Clam Bake and Steak BBQ. Some longtime friends of the Company were able to attend and everyone had a good time.
